This month, our classrooms were filled with engaging, hands-on learning experiences. In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, children learned about the holiday’s origins in Ireland and its traditions, while participating in themed activities that supported creativity and exploration.

We also honored Dr. Seuss by sharing his stories across classrooms, fostering a love of reading and imagination in our students.

Students explored the continent of Asia through cultural discussions, learning about animals, landmarks, and countries, helping to build global awareness at an early age. In our classrooms, children also engaged in hands-on science and botany work, including planting seeds and observing their growth, as well as experimenting with sink-and-float activities to encourage curiosity and critical thinking.

In math, students continued developing number sense and were introduced to early fraction concepts. Across all programs, we also incorporated lessons in the food chain, helping children understand how living things depend on one another.

Overall, the month was filled with meaningful experiences that supported independence, curiosity, and a growing understanding of the world.

February Recap

The month of February was filled with love and joy as we celebrated Valentine’s Day together. Our students enjoyed a wonderful potluck, sharing delicious food and special moments with their classmates. A big thank you to all the families who contributed and helped make this day so memorable for our students. Your support and generosity truly made the celebration extra special.

February was also a month rich in learning and discovery. Our classrooms explored the fascinating continent of Africa. The children learned about its diverse cultures, beautiful landscapes, unique wildlife, and vibrant traditions. Through hands-on activities, stories, art, and discussions, students expanded their understanding of the world and developed a deeper appreciation for different communities and ways of life.

We learned that fruits have different parts. The outside is called the skin or peel, which protects the fruit. Inside is the flesh or pulp, which is the soft, juicy part we usually eat. Fruits also have seeds that can grow into new plants, and many fruits have a stem that attaches them to the plant. We also learned about different types of sounds. Pitch tells us if a sound is high or low, volume tells us if a sound is loud or soft, and the source of a sound is where it comes from, such as people, animals, instruments, or nature.

It has been a joyful and enriching month, and we look forward to many more meaningful experiences together!

January Recap

It was wonderful to welcome our students back after winter break and see them return with such enthusiasm and curiosity. This month was filled with meaningful learning experiences across all areas of our Montessori curriculum.

One of the highlights was observing the life cycle of butterflies firsthand. Students were captivated as they watched each stage unfold, deepening their understanding of the cycle of life. We also honored and learned about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., reflecting on his important contributions and message.

Throughout the month, students explored the life cycles of various animals, including snakes, deer, cats, and dogs, strengthening their understanding of how living things grow and change. In geography, our focus was on Europe. Students learned about its history and culture, explored different plants and animals, studied physical geography, and discovered major rivers across the continent.

Our Share Day was especially exciting, as students brought in postcards from Europe, flag-related items, and shared stories connected to European countries. This hands-on experience encouraged confidence, communication, and cultural appreciation.

In mathematics, students practiced multiplication through real-life scenarios and continued strengthening their counting skills. It was truly rewarding to see how much the students learned and how confidently they applied their knowledge.

We are so proud of their growth and look forward to another month of joyful learning ahead!

It was wonderful to see everyone participate in Spirit Week and enjoy the Christmas recital. We loved watching students take pride in their Montessori jobs and responsibilities. Seeing each milestone reached, big or small, reminds us how much our students grow every day and makes our school community so special.

In the classrooms, students read and discussed The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, which sparked thoughtful conversations about kindness, generosity, and the importance of giving to others. We were especially grateful to see our families come together to support the Sycamore Toy Drive. Thanks to their generosity, gifts were donated to children in need during the holiday season. On behalf of Sycamore, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all the families who contributed and helped bring joy to less fortunate children.

The holiday spirit continued with a special visit from Santa Claus! Every student had the opportunity to meet and greet Santa, creating memorable moments filled with excitement and smiles. We also loved watching our students prepare for their Christmas Recital. Their hard work and dedication truly shined through in an outstanding performance that delighted families and staff alike. Along with all the festive fun, learning continued throughout the month. Students remained engaged in their Montessori job, exploring topics such as animal life cycles, South America, and the parts of a leaf. They also enjoyed outdoor exploration, connecting their lessons to the natural world around them.

We explored the United States of America, learning about its geography, symbols, and traditions. The children especially enjoyed identifying states on the map and discussing what makes each region unique.

Our Grace and Courtesy lessons focused on understanding emotions and practicing kindness. Using the book To Fill a Bucket, the children learned that positive words and actions “fill” others’ buckets and help us all feel valued and cared for. We practiced expressing emotions respectfully and recognizing how our choices affect others.

In Botany, we began our study of roots. The children observed how roots support plants, absorb water, and help them grow. They enjoyed hands-on work examining real roots and discussing the important role they play in a plant’s life cycle.

This month, our classrooms have been filled with curiosity, creativity, and the joy of discovery! As the seasons change, our students have been exploring hands-on lessons that connect them with the world around them — from the life cycle of pumpkins to the geography and animals of North America.

With autumn in full swing, pumpkins became the center of our classroom exploration! Students observed real pumpkins and scooped out seeds. Children discovered each stage of the pumpkin’s life cycle — seed, sprout, vine, flower, and fruit. This hands-on learning helped them understand nature’s beautiful rhythm and the importance of caring for living things. The children also studied the four seasons — spring, summer, fall, and winter. Using Montessori materials, they sorted seasonal pictures, matched clothing to the right weather, and discussed how trees, animals, and people adapt to each season. Observing the changes outside our classroom windows helped them see firsthand how nature transforms through the year.

Our geography studies took us to North America, where students learned about its countries, flags, landmarks, and diverse cultures. Using Montessori jobs continent maps and puzzle pieces, they traced the shapes of countries and colored their own maps. Discussions about North America also led us to talk about the people and places that make our world so unique.

This month’s enrichment lessons were full of creativity! The children painted colorful rocks to place in our school garden, created Picasso-inspired pumpkin art , and were introduced to the beautiful music of composer Camille Saint-Saëns. These activities helped our students express themselves through art and music while connecting to our fall themes. We can’t wait to see what next month brings!

May Recap and June News

Thank you to all the moms who came out, the children were so excited to show off what they had been working on. They were also so happy to spend some time with their moms and friends, it was such a sweet event! The classes also discussed a lot about changing and evolving, they focused on Whales and Migration, as well as the life cycle of a butterfly. The students enjoyed observing the life cycle of chickens, from seeing the candle-lit eggs developing and watching them hatch.

In June, the classes will be taught about community helpers and their vital roles in our society. They will also be preparing for our special Father’s Day event. In geography, the children will learn about California, including the state flower, its beautiful beaches, and national forests.

April Recap and May News

In April, our classes explored the fascinating regions of Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. The children also learned about the environment and how to take better care of it. We focused on supporting our planet by planting, caring for animals, recycling, and learning ways to keep our environment clean. Week of the Young Child was so much fun! Each day the children had a particular activity to celebrate.

The children all looked forward to and enjoyed our Spring egg hunt. In cooking enrichment classes, the children made treats like rainbow fruit skewers, a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom-inspired tree snack, and fish in a stream snack.

In May, our theme is Whales and Migration. In Geography, the children will be learning about South America. The literature book for May is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We will also explore the parts and lifecycle of the chicken.

March Recap and April News

In March, all classes celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Suess. The children had a blast exploring various Dr. Seuss books, along with stories from other wonderful authors. We also took an exciting journey to learn about Africa, diving into the languages spoken across the continent and discovering its many unique countries. Our lessons also explored the fascinating world of dinosaurs, covering different species and their characters. To make it more interactive, the children were encouraged to bring in a photo of their favorite dinosaur to share with their classmates. Additionally, we created a fun activity where the children could “excavate” fossils, bringing the prehistoric world of life!

In cooking Enrichment classes, the children had a blast making ants on a log, green eggs and ham, and shamrock shakes. Spanish class, they focused on reviewing and learning new colors and numbers. For Music, the children explored the life and work of Antonio Vivaldi, the renowned Italian composer of his time, who was also a talented violinist, composer and music teacher.

Our theme for April will be islands and volcanoes. The children will discuss what makes up an island and learn about the earth's layers. In Geography, the children will learn about the geographic locations of Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. We will learn all about their customs, Music, and food. Our literature book for this month is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault.

February Recap and March News

In February, the children celebrated love and friendship, taking the opportunity to show their friends and family how much they care. It was a month filled with fun activities that highlighted cultural awareness and the importance of friendship. The children loved dressing up to share a piece of their culture with one another, making the experience more meaningful and exciting.

The month started greatly with our annual Valentine’s Day celebration. The children enjoyed a variety of delicious and healthy snacks and passed out cute Valentine’s to their friends and teachers. The classes also discussed the continent of Asia and the Lunar New Year. The lessons learned about the different cultures and traditions practiced by their classmates. The cultural awareness day was a huge success, and the children seemed to enjoy it.

In March, the children will embrace the outdoors as Spring arrives, enjoying plenty of fun activities in the sunshine. This month’s theme will focus on Dinosaurs and Africa, where the children will explore various animals, their habitat, and the foods they eat. Additionally, we’ll celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with readings from his books, bringing his whimsical stories to life!

January Recap and February News

January was a thrilling yet chilly month. The holidays passed by quickly, and now we’re diving into the new year, embracing everything it has to offer. This month’s theme focused on Winter Animals and Hibernation. The children explored which animals thrive in cold environments and how some hibernate through the winter months. They also had plenty of chances to talk about the climate, learning all about snow and ice. To top it off, they even had the fun opportunity to make their own snow!

The children learned about Beethoven and how he shaped classical music for their music enrichment class. For Art, the children learned about Vincent Nan Gogh, his art style, and his lifestyle. The children created lots of fun filled activities in cooking class; they used their fine motor skills by measuring out and mixing everything. The children reviewed their letters from “A-E” for Spanish style and sang songs about the cold weather. Lastly, the children continued their self-pace tracking through language, math, and reading in computer class.

December Recap and January News

In December, the children had a month filled with fun and festive activities. They thoroughly enjoyed the various holiday events in their classrooms, with the holiday recital being the highlight. Preparing for and practicing their songs was especially exciting for them, and they did an amazing job with their performances. The theme for the month was Celebrations Around the World, and each class explored the different holidays and traditions celebrated globally during December. The book of the month was The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, which taught the children valuable lessons about kindness, sharing, and giving to others. On that note, our Hathaway-Sycamore gift drive was a great success, and the children were thrilled to contribute gifts to help those in need. A big thank you to all the families who participated!

In January, the theme will be Winter, Snow, and Ice. The children will explore the wonders of winter, including weather changes and snow animals. As part of their geography unit, the classes will focus on the continent of Antarctica and its inhabitants. The book of the month will be The Mitten by Jan Brett which will teach the children about the adventures of winter animals during the cold season.

November Recap and December News

In November, the children enjoyed exploring the changing colors of the leaves outside and through our arts and crafts. The month's theme was Harvest and Healthy Bodies, and they learned about being truthful and helpful. During this time, the children could think about and share what they were thankful for. The end of the month was celebrated with our annual Harvest Feast. All the children enjoyed the delicious food. We appreciate you all! Families, thank you for your continued contributions and support.

In December, our theme will be Celebrations Around the World, where the classes will explore the exciting and diverse holidays celebrated across the globe. We are also excited to announce our recitals, which will take place on December 12th. We can’t wait to see the children showcase their hard work and talent in a wonderful performance. They’ve been practicing their songs, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic show!

October Recap and November News

In October the children were busy, with so many fun Fall activities. The children were so excited to explore what Fall had to offer. Our Halloween Party and Harvest Fest were a great success, it was great to see the children and staff dressed up. Thank You to all the Parents and families that joined us during the Harvest Fest. In November our theme will be Virtues & Values. The children will learn how to work together, how to be helpful. The book To Fill a Bucket is great for the theme of the month that will incorporate Responsibility, Empathy and Courage. As we continue to Learn Geography this month will cover USA, California, Landmarks and National Parks, People, Culture and Traditions.

Please take note of the dates below for all upcoming holiday events and closures. Daylight Savings will occur on November 3rd, which means it will begin to get dark earlier. Please send a long-sleeved jacket/sweatshirt daily with your child (don’t forget to label and check the lost and found).

On November 6th and 7th we will be having our Parent-Teacher Conferences. Remember our door closes at 3 pm. We are excited to have the opportunity for our teachers and parents to connect and talk about the progress of the children and set up goals for the year. Please pick-up no later than 3pm so our conferences can start on time!

November 27- Harvest Fest: Please help our classrooms celebrate the holiday by signing up to bring in a dish for the class to enjoy. This event is only for children. Items may be brought the day before or the morning of the 23rd. Sign-up sheets on specific dishes to bring in will be posted in the classrooms as the day approaches.

September Recap and October News

We started a wonderful new school year in September with open arms, warmly embracing many new friends and families into our school. September was a great success as we got back in the routine of our academic curriculum.

Everyone enjoyed the curriculum, they learned the seven continents, exploring the All About Me theme, and reading the book of the month The Kissing Hand. It was a fantastic start to the new school year. Our Enrichment classes were filled with lots of activities for the students. For our cooking class they made a fall tree out of pretzels, a school bus snack. As for Spanish they learned Items of school, fall words.

We're eagerly gearing up for Autumn and Halloween festivities as October is already underway! Our primary educational focus will be exploring Solar System and Space. Every class will feature the enchanting book of the month, Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger, offering literary adventures. October is set to be joyful and thrilling, filled with many exciting activities and valuable learning experiences for the children. Summer Recap and September News

Our Summer program was an immense success! We started our days with an enriched academic curriculum, followed by a delightful mix of indoor and outdoor activities. From engaging projects and various activity centers to sports, cooking, water play, music, and dancing, there was something for everyone.

Each week brought a new theme, making every moment a fresh adventure. Our weekly themes included Camping, down on the Farm, Olympics, Fitness and Fun, Outer Space, Party in the USA, Things That Fly, Underwater Adventure, and Volcano Week. Water days were particularly refreshing, providing a cool escape from the summer heat and adding extra excitement to our program!

As we gear up for the 2024-2025 academic year, we extend a warm welcome to both new and returning families of Little Acorn Montessori. We’re excited to embark on this new school year, dedicated to the essential role of early education and committed to the growth of each cherished child. Our mission is to inspire, guide, and nurture as children progress through the critical five developmental stages of their early years.

Starting in September, each child will receive an individualized lesson plan tailored to the Montessori Curriculum, promoting well-rounded development and learning. This month, our theme is All About Me. We’ll encourage the children to share about themselves, their friends, and create family portraits. We’re also excited to bring back some beloved activities, including our Enrichment Program. During the academic day, students can explore subjects such as Spanish, computers, art, music, and cooking.

May Recap and June News

May was a thrilling month for the children. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the mothers who attended the Mother’s Day tea party. It was a fantastic turnout. The children were enthusiastic as they shared their handmade gifts and Mother’s Day cards. I want to express my gratitude to our families for allowing our team of teachers and staff to be an integral part of your child’s journey and accomplishments. We love seeing your children each day. To all the parents and families at Little Acorn, we truly appreciate your heartfelt messages of love and support throughout the past year, especially during teacher appreciation week. Your generous cards, flowers, gifts, and recognition mean so much to us.

We have an engaging and dynamic curriculum lined up for all our classrooms. In June, the children will explore the topics of Transportation and our beautiful state of California. Our featured book of the month is The Little Red Hen. As the school year draws to a close, we extend our heartfelt best wishes to the students graduating and transitioning to new schools. We wish them all the very best on their new journeys!

April Recap and May News

In April our classes delved into the wonders of Australia and learned about environmental care and the three important R's such as reuse, recycle, and reduce. The children all had the opportunity to do so many hands-on activities to learn about the three R’s. Meanwhile, the week of the Young Child was a blast! Each day brought new themed activities: Sports Day, Wacky Hats & Crazy Hair, Picnic Fun, Superheroes & Princesses, and Pajama Day. It was so much fun and heartwarming seeing our children in the spirit, check out their photos on our social media. Finally, our annual Egg Hunt was a hit, the children learned through this activity about sharing and collaborating with one another. In cooking enrichment, the kids made tasty treats like rainbow fruit skewers and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom-inspired snacks.

In May, we're diving into Dinosaurs and Africa while enjoying The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and exploring butterfly lifecycles through exciting activities.

In March, our classroom buzzed with joy and anticipation as we delved into the vibrant world of literature during our celebration of Read Across America and Dr. Seuss's birthday. The air was filled with laughter and excitement as the children immersed themselves in the whimsical tales penned by Dr. Seuss and other talented authors. All the classes went on an enchanting journey through colorful pages, exploring the magic of storytelling and the boundless imagination it ignites.

In our cooking enrichment sessions, our young chefs made "ants on a log," "green eggs and ham," and shamrock shakes," a blend of creativity with culinary skills. Meanwhile, in Spanish class, they immersed themselves in colors and numbers, embracing linguistic diversity through interactive activities. In music, they discovered the timeless compositions of Antonio Vivaldi, while computer class sparked excitement with exploration on platforms like ABC Mouse, fostering digital literacy in a fun and engaging way.

As we step into April, our classrooms will be buzzing with anticipation for an enriching exploration of "Our Planet Earth and Oceania." -Mark your calendars for our Spring Easter Egg Hunt, set for April 5th, Friday. To ensure a delightful hunt for all, kindly bring 10 pre-filled Easter eggs by April 2nd and drop them off with your child's teacher.

-Don't miss out on our Spring Photos session! Scheduled for April 17th (Wednesday) for toddlers and pre-primary, and April 18th (Thursday) for primary 1, 2, and T-K, it's the perfect opportunity to capture those precious moments. February Recap and April News

In February, our little ones celebrated love and friendship with big smiles and open hearts. They made sure to let their friends and family know just how much they cared about them. The month was filled with exciting activities that helped the children discover new things and have lots of fun together! One of the highlights was seeing how the children came in wearing something from their cultures.

February was a month filled with exciting and enriching learning experiences, paired with delicious treats to make it even more delightful. The children eagerly anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed their Valentine's Day party. Witnessing their joy as they shared goodies with friends, spreading love and happiness, was truly heartwarming. Another special moment was our celebration of Lunar New Year. The week was brimming with activities that honored this festive occasion, introducing the students to its significance through engaging arts and crafts. We wrapped up the week by wearing red, a vibrant and symbolic gesture to honor and celebrate Lunar New Year together.

This month, our special book was "Little Blue & Little Yellow," where we discovered the wonderful meaning of friendship together. In our cooking adventures, the children had a blast making yummy treats.

Finally, as March arrives, the children will be getting ready for lots of fun under the warm sun as we welcome Spring! This month, our exciting themes are Dinosaurs and Africa. We'll explore different types of animals, where they live, and the types of foods they like to eat. Plus, we'll celebrate the birthday of the amazing Dr. Seuss by reading some of his fantastic books together.

January Recap and February News

Happy New Year to our wonderful Little Acorn community! January brought excitement and discovery to our classrooms as the children immersed themselves in the fascinating world of Winter Animals and Hibernation. The chilly climate brought up many engaging discussions about snow and ice, and the children even had the opportunity to create their own snow during our enrichment activities, contributing to the children's ability to explore different textures and discuss the sensations of snow. The month's chosen book, The Mitten, helped the children learn about scarcity and the impact of insufficient resources. In parallel, the children explored the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr., embracing the importance of diversity and recognizing the shared humanity that unites us all.

Beethoven took center stage in the music enrichment class, where the children learned about his profound influence on classical music. Art lessons delved into the life and style of Vincent Van Gogh, sparking creativity and expression among the children. Cooking class enhanced children's fine motor skills as the children measured and mixed ingredients. Spanish lessons focused on the letters "A-E" and included cheerful songs about the cold weather. Computer class allowed the children to continue to explore language, math, and reading.

February brings a central theme of Cultural Awareness and Friendship, focusing on exploring different cultures and traditions worldwide. Cultural Awareness Day will provide each class to share their unique cultural elements.

Geography in February will have the children learn about the continent of Asia, where discussions will span cultures, food, and landmarks, and our book of the month will be, Little Blue and Little Yellow, by Leo Lionni.

Important reminders for February include an Open House & Parent Info Night on 2/7 and a Valentine's Day Party on 2/14 (a child-only event).

In December a myriad of holiday activities brought joy to our students. A heartfelt appreciation goes to Nicholas Violet's dad from Primary 1 class for graciously volunteering to be our school's Santa Claus. His enthusiastic participation brought immense joy to the students, and the captivating pictures captured during the event were delightful.

A special thank you goes to the parents for enhancing the holiday spirit among our teachers with thoughtful gifts that brought smiles and warmth. Thanks to our amazing teachers practicing with the kids, the holiday recital was also a hit. And parents, you rocked for showing up and cheering on your little stars.

Our heartfelt thanks also extend to the parents who generously participated in the Hathway toy drive, bringing joy to less fortunate children during the holiday season. The Parents' Night Out event was a blast; the children enjoyed each other's company while indulging in a festive movie, The Grinch the cartoon version, fun games such as having a dance party with holiday music, and enjoying delicious pizza. Spirit Week was a highlight, with students showcasing holiday spirit through festive headwear, themed attire, crazy sock day, and cozy pajamas.

Transitioning to the enriching learning experiences in December, students explored diverse holiday traditions worldwide. The featured book of the month, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein , gave the students valuable lessons on sharing and giving back to others. Meanwhile, in enrichment, the students crafted charming Christmas crafts such as colorful candy canes made through beads and pipe cleaners, practicing their fine motor skills, color recognition through patterns, and counting them enhancing their math skills. Their crafts also helped adorn the classrooms festively and delighted parents. In cooking, students learned to create healthy holiday treats while gaining valuable knowledge on portion sizes, mixing, and discovering their taste preferences. In music, the students immersed themselves in the joyous sounds of the season. Finally, in computer classes, students continued their immersive learning through ABCMouse.com.

As we look forward to January, our thematic focus will shift to Winter, Snow, and Ice. Students will explore the wonders of winter, studying weather changes and delving into the world of snow animals, particularly focusing on the Antarctic continent for their geography unit. The chosen book of the month, The Mitten, will further enhance their understanding of winter animals.

In November, our students embraced the changing colors of fall leaves while delving into the themes of Harvest and Healthy Bodies. Through creative pursuits, they learned the values of truthfulness and helpfulness. The month concluded with our cherished annual Harvest Feast, where delicious food added to the joy. A warm thank you to our supportive families for their contributions.

During their music class, the children explored Jazz. In the art realm, magnificent turkey chalk art was created by them. Meanwhile, the young chefs crafted delectable fall treats infused with pumpkin filling in the cooking class. The children learned to identify their body parts in Spanish as part of their linguistic acquisition. Simultaneously, they continued their self-paced advancement in computer class, furthering their digital skills.

Throughout December, our focus shifts to Celebrations Around the World. This thematic exploration offers classes the chance to delve into the diverse and fantastic array of holidays celebrated globally. Anticipation builds for our upcoming recital, scheduled for December 14th from 3:00-4:00pm, where we eagerly await the children's stellar performances—they have been diligently practicing their songs.

September Blog:

September Recap: We started a wonderful new school year in September with open arms, warmly embracing many new friends and families into our school. This month, our focus was on the theme "All About Me," where each class took the opportunity to connect. Additionally, we introduced the fascinating world of the seven continents to the children, who enthusiastically explored continent maps and learned a catchy continents song.

Our classrooms delved into the heartwarming pages of the month's book, The Kissing Hand , by Audrey Penn, emphasizing the importance of helping one another. The children also eagerly shared their family photos and things about themselves that make them unique and special. We also introduced our exciting enrichment programs, allowing the kids to experience something new each week. In cooking class, they used graham crackers, pretzels, and raisins to craft self-portraits and got creative with a hands-on activity, creating the "kissing hand" poem using paint. Spanish class taught them about the colors and materials used in school. Music class brought the joy of discovering orchestra music, with the kids even trying their hand at conducting. The computer class began a digital journey as the children explored ABCMouse.com, an excellent way to introduce children to computer use.

Our Back-to-School Night was a delightful day where we connected with new and returning families. Our dedicated teachers worked diligently to prepare engaging presentations/displays for the event, making it a memorable gathering.

It was genuinely wonderful to capture pictures of parents gaining a deeper understanding of the Montessori teaching approach and having the opportunity to observe their children actively engaged in their favorite Montessori activities.

October News:

We're eagerly gearing up for autumn and Halloween festivities as October arrives! Our primary educational focus will be exploring the five senses each week dedicated to a different purpose. Moreover, every class will feature the enchanting book of the month, Going on a Leaf Hunt by Steve Metzger, offering captivating literary adventures. October is set to be joyful and thrilling, filled with many exciting activities and valuable learning experiences for the children. You won't want to miss a single day!

Summer 2023 Recap

Summer Recap

Summer came and went in the blink of an eye! We had a fantastic time with all our in-house activities!! We started the summer with a Party in The USA. We celebrated the 4 ^th of July by learning about the meaning of Independence Day, making fireworks art, and watching videos about fireworks. Our Outer Space week was filled with Stars, planets, and constellations. We named the planets and learned how they go around the sun. We had Tide pools where the children could touch and feel underwater sea creatures for our Underwater Adventure. They were able to hold them and see how they felt. The children learned about the materials needed to go Camping. We made smores and did some bird-watching with binoculars. Our reptile friends came to visit us as well. Some children petted a python and looked closely at turtles and giant lizards. We studied Farms and the animals that live on farms. We used 3-part cards to connect the bodies of the animals and created several pieces of farm animal art using paper plates and popsicle sticks. Volcano week was a blast. The children worked together in the classrooms to create volcanos and erupted them at the end of the week. The water slide was a fantastic addition to our summer fun. The child had so much fun slipping and sliding. The highlight of the summer was our carnival, which included a petting zoo, face painting, games, and wonderful family time! Thank you so much for being a part of our program.

September Blog

School is back in session, and we are excited to see many new and returning faces. September is filled with “All About Me” activities as the theme for the month. The children will be learning and sharing what makes them special and unique. We will create posters and family trees for a big monthly project. We will learn about the seven continents and begin understanding the globe. Normalizing the classroom by using our manners and learning our classroom rules and routines will also be a big part of learning in September.

We are honored that you chose Belltower Montessori Academy for your children’s education. We are excited to jump into the school year and see what new opportunities and learning experiences this year holds for us.

As this school year comes to an end, we want to take this time to say thank you to all of our families for allowing Little Acorn Montessori Academy to be your child’s school where they come to learn and grow each day! What a great year it has been; we are grateful for all the families that continue to stay with us and allow us to be a part of your children’s lives. For the students who will continue with us for the summer and fall, we have a fun-filled and exciting summer curriculum planned for all of our classrooms. Our Summer Program will begin July 5th through August 29th. This will include an enriched academic program every morning followed by enjoyable indoor and outdoor activities such as exciting projects, including various activity centers, sports, cooking, water play, music, dancing, and much more. May was an exciting month for the children. We want to thank the mothers attending the Mother’s Day tea party. It was such a great turnout. The children were excited and shared their creative gifts and Mother’s Day cards. I want to thank our families for having our team of teachers and staff be a big part of your child’s life and achievements. We love seeing your children each day. To all our parents and families here at Little Acorn, we appreciate your heartfelt messages of love and support this past year, especially during teacher appreciation week. We thank you for your generous cards, flowers, gifts, and recognition.

June News:

We have a fun-filled and exciting curriculum planned for all our classrooms. In June, the children will learn about Transportation and our state, California. Our book of the month is The Little Red Hen. As our school year ends, we wish all the best for students graduating and moving to new schools. We want all of them the very best!

Aprip Recap:

In April, the classes learned all about the continent of Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. The children also learned about the environment and how to take better care of it. We focused on supporting our planet by planting, caring for animals, recycling, and learning ways to keep our environment clean. Week of the Young Child was so much fun! Each day the children had a particular activity to celebrate. On Monday was Sports Day, and the kids wore their favorite team or sportswear. Tuesday, the children wore wacky hats or had crazy hair. On Wednesday, our picnic turned out great. On Thursday, the children showed off their superhero and princess outfits. On Friday, it was pajama day, and the children arrived at school with their favorite comfy pajamas.

The children all looked forward to and enjoyed our annual egg hunt festivity. In cooking enrichment classes, the children made treats like rainbow fruit skewers, a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom-inspired tree snack, creamsicle bites, and fish in a stream snack. In Music, the children learned about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who started playing music at four years old and wrote his first symphony in 1764 – he was only eight years old. In art, they learned about Australian Aboriginal art; they made a rainbow rock painting and built a bug craft, rain stick, and earth template.

March Recap and April News

March Recap:

All classes celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss's birthday in March. The children enjoyed reading different books by Dr. Suess and other amazing authors. We also learned about Africa, including the languages spoken and the different countries. Our pre-primary class had fun experimenting with making Oobleck using cornstarch and food coloring. The lessons also taught about dinosaurs and the many different types. The children could also bring in a photo of their favorite dinosaurs to share with their friends.

In cooking enrichment classes, the children made ants on a log, green eggs and ham, shamrock shakes, and rainbow toast. In Spanish class, they learned and reviewed colors and numbers. In Music, the children learned about the most outstanding Italian Composer of his time Antonio Vivaldi who played the violin, wrote, and taught Music. Computer class is always fun for all; the children always look forward to exploring the activities on ABC Mouse.

April News:

Our theme for April will be islands and volcanos. The children will discuss what makes up an island and learn about the earth's layers. In Geography, the children will learn about the geographic locations of Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. We will learn all about their customs, Music, and food. Our literature book for this month is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault.

February Recap:

In February, the children celebrated love and friendship with one another. The children showed their friends and family how much they cherished them all in February. Cultural awareness and friendship brought many fun activities for the children to learn and explore! The children enjoyed dressing up to share a part of their culture with their friends.

The month started great with our annual Valentine’s Day celebration. The children enjoyed a variety of delicious and healthy snacks and passed out cute Valentine’s to their friends and teachers. The classes also discussed the continent of Asia and the Lunar New Year. The cultural awareness day was a huge success! We were able to capture a lot of photos of the children wearing their traditional clothing.

The book for the month was Little Blue & Little Yellow, and the children learned all about the meaning of friendship. In cooking, the children enjoyed making some fun, delicious treats, and one of their favorites was the cheese and apple pirate ships.

March News:

In March, the children will enjoy more outdoor activities under the sun as Spring begins. For the theme in March, the children will be learning all about Dinosaurs and Africa. They will discuss the different types of animals, their habitat, and the food they enjoy eating. Also, we will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday this month and read some of his published books.

January recap:

January was fun, filled with new discoveries as the children learned about Winter Animals and Hibernation. We discussed the cold climate in the classes and learned about snow and ice. They even got to create their snow during our enrichment activities.

The children reviewed their letters from “A-E” for Spanish style and sang songs about the cold weather. Lastly, the children continued their self-pace tracking through language, math, and reading in computer class.

February News:

In February, we are learning all about Cultural Awareness and Friendship. The children will discuss the different cultures and traditions worldwide. The classes will also share their culture and traditions on Cultural Awareness Day. December Recap:

In December, the children had an enjoyable and festive month. They all enjoyed so many great holiday activities throughout the school. They had a great time practicing for their recitals; it was great to see the smile on their faces. The performances were a great success, and we thank the families for joining us. For December, the theme was Celebrations Around the World. All the classes learned about the many different types of holidays and traditions that are celebrated. The book of the month was The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein; the children knew the importance of being kind by sharing and giving to others. We got to practice the act of giving by participating in our Hathaway-Sycamore gift drive, which was a huge success. The children were excited to bring in gifts to help needy children. Thank you to all the families that participated!

For Enrichment, all the classes created some delicious healthy treats in cooking class, they learned in Spanish class the days of the week and months of the year, and in art, they worked on some fun candy cane projects. In music class, the children enjoyed some holiday music and the music of the Nutcracker as well. The children continue their work on ABCMouse.com for computer class; they appreciate it.

January News:

In January, the theme is Winter, Snow, and Ice. The children will learn about wintertime, weather change, and snow animals. The classes will focus on Antarctica's continent and all the inhabitants for their geography unit. The Mitten will be our literature book to help the children learn what happens to winter animals during the cold season.

In December, the theme will be Celebrations Around the World. The classes will have the opportunity to explore all the many fantastic different holidays that are celebrated. We will also have our recitals; we look forward to seeing all the children put on a great show on December 15th. The children have already been practicing their songs.

October Recap and November News

October Recap:

We welcomed many changes in October, from warm weather to cooler temperatures to exciting adventures in the classroom. The classroom's monthly theme was Five Senses and Feelings. The children read the month's book, We're Going on a Leaf Hunt , by Steve Metzger. The children were involved in many activities that made them use their five senses, like smelling a pumpkin to feeling the slimy inside. The children were able to learn more about autumn, and they also discussed fire safety.

For our Enrichment program, the children were introduced to the music of Camille Saint- Saens and the fantastic art of Picasso. In cooking, the children could create some fun fall recipes, and for computers, they continued their learning through ABCmouse. Lastly, they reviewed the words they had learned in Spanish and added some Halloween words.

To end the month, we had a blast at our Halloween party! The children had lots of fun and ate delicious treats with their classmates. Thank you to all the families who helped with providing snacks and goodies.

November News:

The theme for November is Harvest and Healthy Bodies. The month's book is Fill a Bucket by Carol McCloud and Katherine Martin. They will discuss and learn about the United States, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving. We have lots of fun-filled activities for the children this month, and we will celebrate our annual Harvest Feast.

We welcomed many new friends and families to our school in September and started a brand-new school year. Each class took the time to get to know each other with the month’s theme, All About Me. We also introduced the 7 continents; the children explored the continent map and learned the continents song. The classrooms read the book of the month The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn and talked about the importance of helping one another. The children were so happy to share their family photos with the classroom and share little things that make them unique.

Lastly, we welcomed our enrichment programs; the kids loved doing something different each week. In cooking class, they created a self-portrait of themselves using graham crackers, pretzels, and raisins and used our hands to develop the kissing hand poem with paint. In Spanish, they learned how to greet one another, colors, and materials used in school. For music, they had so much fun learning about Orchestra music and even practiced being conductors. For computer class, they started their new journey on ABCMouse.com.

We enjoyed seeing all the families at our Back-to-School Night, and the teachers worked very hard in putting together their presentations. It was great to welcome our new parents and reconnect with everyone!

October News:

In October, the lesson’s theme is the Solar System and Space. North America, our home continent, is the focused continent. The children study the plants and animals native to the mainland customs and traditions of its diverse people. In Literature, the book of the month is Going on a Leaf Hun t by Steve Metzger. Significant events are Picture Day on October 5 ^th and Halloween Parade and Costume Party on the 31 ^st .

As this school year come to an end, we wanted to take this time to say thank you to all of our families for allowing Little Acorn Montessori Academy to be your child’s school where they come to learn and grow each day. We had a great year; we are eternally grateful for all the families that have stuck with us and allowed us to be a part of your children’s everyday lives. For our students who will be continuing with us for the summer and fall, we have a fun-filled and exciting summer curriculum planned for all of our classrooms. For those students who will be graduating and moving on to new schools, we wish you all the best, and please don’t hesitate to stop by and visit!

Summer Program:

Our Summer Program will be commencing July 5th through August 29th. This will include an enriched academic program every morning followed by enjoyable indoor and outdoor activities such as stimulating projects, including various activity centers, sports, cooking, water play, music, dancing, and much more. Each week is themed with a new adventure!

May Office Blog:

May was an exciting month for the children. We want to thank the mothers that came to the Mother’s Day tea party. It was such a great turnout. The children were excited and shared their creative gifts and Mother’s Day cards. I want to extend our gratitude to our families for having our team of teachers and staff be a big part of your child’s life and achievements. We love seeing your children each day. To all our parents and families here at Little Acorn, we appreciate your heartfelt messages of love and support in the past year, especially during teacher appreciation week. We thank you so much for your generous cards, flowers, gifts, and recognition.

June Office Blog:

We have a fun-filled and exciting curriculum planned for all our classrooms. In June, the children will learn about Transportation and our state, California. Our book of the month is The Little Red Hen. As we end our school year, we wish all the best for students graduating and moving to new schools, and please don’t hesitate to stop by and visit.

Graduation 2021 Ceremony and Celebration: We will be holding our TK/Kinder graduation ceremony on June 21 ^st from 10:30 am-12:00 pm. Due to limited space, we only allow four (4) guests per student. Please RSVP by June 10 ^th via evite.

End of the Year Celebration-June 30 ^th : We were blown away by the excellent school year. So, to celebrate the end of the year, the classes will be having a fun end-of-the-year picnic and popsicles!

April Recap and May News

April Recap

In April, we set up our chick display and our silkworms. The classes learned all about the continent of Australia. The children also learned about planet earth, earth day. We focused on how to support the environment by planting, caring for animals, recycling, and learning ways to keep our environment clean. Week of the Young Child was so much fun! Each day the children had a particular activity to celebrate. On Monday was Sports Day, and the kids wore their favorite team or sportswear. Tuesday, the children wore wacky hats or had crazy hair. On Wednesday, our picnic turned out great. On Thursday, the children showed off their superhero and princess outfits. On Friday, it was pajama day, and the children arrived at school with their favorite comfy pajamas.

The children all looked forward and enjoyed our annual egg hunt festivity. In cooking enrichment classes, the children made treats like rainbow fruit skewers, a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom-inspired tree snack, creamsicle bites, and a fun fish snack in a stream. In Music, the children learned about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who started playing music at four years old and wrote his first symphony in 1764 – he was only eight years old. In art they learned about Australian Aboriginal art, they made a rainbow rock painting and built a bug craft, rain stick, and earth template.

May News

In May, our theme is Dinosaurs. The children are learning all about Dinosaurs. In Geography, the children will learn about the continent of Africa. The literature book for May is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The Chick display is set up; the children are very excited to give the names of the chicks and watch them grow.

March Recap and April News.

March Recap

In March, all classes celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss' birthday. The children enjoyed reading different books by Dr. Suess and other amazing authors. They did arts and crafts based on Dr. Suess's books, such as "Fox on the Socks" and "Put in the Zoo," decorated socks, and made a zoo art activity. All students and their teachers discussed and learned about South America, including the language and countries in South America. We even had a parent share some instruments and books from Peru in our toddler room. Thank you for sharing with our toddlers. They were so excited. Our toddlers had fun mixing milk and food coloring during a science experiment to make Magic Milk. All classes also learned about the rainforest and all is its layers. During St. Patrick's Day celebrations, the children painted shamrocks and made Leprechauns, coins, Leprechaun hats, etc.

In cooking enrichment classes, the children made ants on a log, green eggs and ham, rainbow fruit skewers, and rainbow toast. They loved tasting all the different fruits. In Spanish class, they learned and reviewed colors and numbers. In Music, the children learned about the most outstanding Italian Composer of his time Antonio Vivaldi who played the violin, wrote, and taught Music. Computer class is always a thrill; the children always look forward to working on ABC Mouse.

April News

In April, we are setting up our chick display! Our theme for this month is Our Planet Earth and Oceania. The children will discuss how to take care of our earth and the layers of the earth. In Geography, the children will learn about the geographic region Oceania, Australia, and its landmarks, diverse landscapes, Music, and food. Our Literature book for this month is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault. For Zoology, the children will discuss Kangaroos, Koalas, spiders, and insects. In Botany, the children will learn about plants and how they grow. Science is always an interest to the children; we will be experimenting with rainbows.

February Recap 2022 blog and March News 2022

February 2022 Recap:

In February, the children celebrated love and friendship with one another. February was when the children got a chance to show their friends and family how much they cherish them all. Cultural awareness and friendship brought tons of fun activities for the children to learn and explore! The children enjoyed dressing up to share a part of their culture with their friends.

The month started great with our annual Valentine’s Day celebration. The children enjoyed a variety of delicious and healthy snacks and passed out cute Valentine’s to their friends and teachers. The classes also discussed the continent of Asia and the Lunar New Year. The lessons learned about the different cultures and traditions practiced by their classmates. The cultural awareness day was a huge success, and the children seemed to enjoy it.

March 2022 News:

In March, the children will enjoy the more beautiful outdoors when Spring begins. For the theme in March, the children will be learning all about the Rainforest and South America. They will discuss the types of animals, their habitat, and the food they enjoy eating. Also, this month, we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss and reading some of the books he has published.

January 2022 Blog

January 2022 Recap:

January was an exhilarating and cold month. The holidays came and went, and now we are enjoying the new year and all it has to offer. The theme of the month was Winter Animals and Hibernation. The classes discussed what animals live in the cold and hibernate during the winter. The children had plenty of opportunities also to discuss the cold climate and learn all about snow and ice. They even got to create their snow!

Our classes also talked about Martin Luther King Jr. and the meaning of diversity. The children all discussed how people might look different on the outside; we are all the same inside. The month’s book was The Mitten, and the children learned all about the meaning of scarcity and what happens when there is not enough of something.

The children learned about Beethoven and how he shaped classical music for their music enrichment class. For Art, the children learned about Vincent Nan Gogh, his art style, and his lifestyle. The children created lots of fun fullied activities in cooking class; they used their fine motor skills by measuring out and mixing everything. The children reviewed their letters from “A-E” for Spanish style and sang songs about the cold weather. Lastly, the children continued their self-pace tracking through language, math, and reading in computer class.

February 2022 News:

In February, we are discussing Cultural Awareness and Friendship. The children have the chance to learn about different cultures and traditions worldwide. The classes will also share their own culture and traditions on Cultural Awareness Day. In geography classes, the focus will be on the continent of Asia; the types will be discussing everything about their cultures, food, and landmarks. The month’s book is Little Blue, Little Yellow by Leo Lionni.
